To be admitted to the AAS or certificate program, students must hold a high school diploma or GED and meet English language requirements. The cost of either course is charged on a sliding scale per credit basis, and each student's final costs are determined as the enrollment process proceeds, with the lowest rates charged to Ohio State residents.

Kent State University

The prestigious Kent State University offers an American Bar Association approved Bachelor's Degree program in Paralegal Studies. The program offers a very comprehensive education, including an industry internship, and is best suited to those who aspire to work in a white shoe corporate law firm environment. Enrollment is based on previous academic performance and personal interviews. Tuition is charged on a per-credit basis, with actual costs determined by a student's residence and personal circumstances. Financial aid is available to those who qualify and is used by the vast majority of students.

Herzing University

A national concern, Herzing University does maintain an Akron campus, but for Ohio students their paralegal program is an online only offering. The program, which grants an Associate of Science in Legal Studies, can be completed in around 18 months of full time online study, some of which students can complete at their own pace. Timed attendance is required for live lectures however. The degree provides a comprehensive overview of the paralegal profession as a whole and offers a concentration on legal research and ethics, both of which are an important component of a paralegal's role.
